FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: packing of shaft consists of stationary thrust ring and of pressed to it ring rotating and movable in axial direction. Both rings form a friction pair. Further, the packing consists of a packing ring contacting the movable ring to seal a gap around the shaft. Also, the movable ring is pressed to the stationary ring by means of several point springs uniformly arranged along circumference. Each spring interacts with a corresponding element of torque transfer fixed against a turn relative to the movable ring.
EFFECT: maintaining pre-calculated value of required constriction of friction pairs to each other due to facilitation of required preliminary constriction of springs in assembled rotating ring; easy assembly and maintenance of shaft packing; simplification of design in whole.
