FIELD: fire safety.
SUBSTANCE: method to reduce fire and explosion hazard of gas mediums of container with environmentally hazardous chemically active materials includes loading the container with a reagent that interacts with flammable components of gas medium that is generated in container volume in case of fire, container sealing. According to invention, reagent used to create retarders when interacting with flammable components of gas mediums of container is represented by oxides of copper and/or oxides of metals of sixth group of periodical system, on completion of use the reagent is unloaded and sent for regeneration.
EFFECT: efficient reduction of chances for ignition or explosion of gas medium generated in tight volume under fire conditions, in case of unsealing and contact with air.
