SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a novel chemical compound - fluorescent dye of etidium ethylsulphate (3,8-diamino-5-ethyl-6- phenylphenantridium ethyl sulphate) of formula I which increases fluorescence intensity when exposed to UV light as a result of bonding with nucleic acids.

EFFECT: obtaining a novel compound which can be used to detect DNA.
