SUBSTANCE: inert gas chamber is arranged above melt bath 8 surrounded by casting machine housing top part 11 comprising sealing system 12, 13 to interact with casting rolls 2, 3. One or several laser units 25 are arranged along the edges of casting roll 2, 3 for casting roll surface 2a, 3a to be processed by laser beam all over roll length. Additional appliances (30, 31, 35, 45) for mechanical, chemical or thermal cleaning of casting roll surface are arranged ahead of laser unit or units 25 along direction of rotation (D2, D3).
EFFECT: complete and uniform surface cleaning.
