FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: inventions may be used in friction welding with mixing of two metal parts with relatively large thickness, in particular, exceeding 10 mm, for example, for producing aircraft components from aluminium alloys. Welding tool 2 comprises shoulder 4 and threaded rod 6 parting therefrom. Said rod 6 comprises, at least, three adjacent sections (8a, 8b, 8c) uniformly distributed along rod lengthwise axis that features, primarily, convex shape. Each section (8a, 8b, 8c) comprises at least there plane parts (8), adjoining to each other normal lines of these parts are crossed in the direction of the axis. Threaded parts (10a, 10b, 10c) are arranged between pairs of adjacent sections.
EFFECT: high-quality welding, reduced load on tool and no overheating.
