FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silicon-containing carbon materials used for cleaning gas- and vapor-air mixes, and as a catalyst carrier. Silicon-containing carbon catalyst is produced in processing carbon sorbent or its precursor by polycarboxilane in organic solvent, and heating to 900°C in inert atmosphere with temperature rise rate of up to 10°C/min. In case carbon precursor is used, activation of carbonised product is additionally performed.

EFFECT: higher-capacity sorbent and higher resistance to thermal oxidation.
