FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of composite materials based on carbon and silicon carbide and articles made therefrom for thermal protection and structural purposes for use in space engineering and metallurgy. Method of making articles from ceramic-matrix composite material comprises forming a carcass of carbon fibers, impregnating it with a solution of polycarbosilane in an organic solvent, forming a carbon-fiber workpiece on their basis, heat treatment at 1,000–1,500 °C, formation of carbon in produced pores and siliconisation with steam-liquid-phase method. After heat treatment, additional operations of impregnation of the porous workpiece with polycarbosilane solution, its solidification and thermal treatment are performed. Method uses polycarboosilane with double and / or triple bonds at carbon, for example, polydimethylsylethyne

or polydimethylsilethensilethyne

and the solvent is unsaturated or aromatic hydrocarbons, wherein a radical polymerisation initiator is added to the impregnation solution in amount of 1–1.5 % of the weight of the polymer, e.g. azobisizobutyronitrile.

EFFECT: technical result of invention is to increase serviceability of articles from CCCM under conditions of oxidative medium, high temperatures and high mechanical loads.
