ELECTRIC CONTACT UNIT OF INERT ANODE FOR OBTAINING ALUMINIUM IN FUSED SALT AND METHOD FOR ITS ERECTION Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C25C3/16 C25C3/12

Abstract RU 2418889 C2

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: electric contact unit of inert anode includes hollow housing of inert anode, which is made from oxide ceramics on the basis of SnO2, and metal current-conducting rod, in the gap between contact surfaces of which there made is current-conducting layer made from solder with temperature of complete fusion, which exceeds electrolysis temperature by not less than 10%, which wets out the contact surfaces. Current-conducting rod is made from alloys on the basis of iron with preliminary nickel coating to provide wetting ability of rod with silver-and-copper solder or from nickel. Additional alloying additives, for example titanium, ferrum, yttrium, cerium, the total content of which is within 0.1-5 wt %, can be added to the solder. Erection method of electric contact unit of inert anode includes preliminary preparation of contact surfaces of housing of inert anode and current-conducting rod, installation of current-conducting rod to hollow housing of inert anode with a gap between contact surfaces and formation in mounting gap of current-conducting layer of metal or alloy, which wets contact surfaces, contact reaction soldering; at that, solder is placed into cavity of anode housing, housing is heated to the temperature exceeding temperature of complete fusion of solder by not less than 50°C, and after complete fusion of solder to the anode housing there installed is current-conducting rod and uniformly cooled to ambient temperature; at that, current-conducting rod is preliminarily subject to tinning with solder.

EFFECT: reducing power losses and improving reliability and life time of anode operation.
