FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to onboard radar sets with synthetic antenna aperture designed to generate a radar image of the part of the earth's surface under surveillance in range-azimuth coordinates on the course of the aircraft with low velocity (low altitude flight) or from a helicopter. The method of viewing the earth's surface in the front zone of view of an onboard radar set for slow aircraft or helicopter involves formation of a radar image of the earth's surface in range-azimuth coordinates and is characterised by that, synthesizing is carried out in a wide azimuth viewing zone based on special movement of the nose of the aircraft.
EFFECT: formation of a radar image in a wide front zone of view with a synthesized aperture of the radar set on board aircraft which is moving with low velocity or a helicopter.
