FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to onboard radar imaging systems with a synthesized antenna aperture which enables formation of a radar image of part of the earth's surface during lateral, anterolateral scanning or when scanning in the front zone in range-azimuth coordinates during an allowable synthesizing time Ts. The method of increasing radar angular resolution during anterolateral scanning involves formation of the radar image of the earth's surface within a given time period in range-azimuth coordinates. Synthesis is performed simultaneously in several measurement channels of the antenna system with subsequent multichannel processing of the synthesized radar images.
EFFECT: high radar angular resolution in a given Ts, which is equivalent to preservation of resolution for shorter Ts.
