FIELD: weapon and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: cannon barrel is manufactured from a stock in the form of a forged thermally treated stem. During the first mechanical treatment a process element is made in the tail part of the stock to fix the stock in an accessory for loading, unloading and its retention in vertical position during stabilising tempering in a blast furnace, and the base is made for the second preliminary mechanical treatment carried out after the stabilising tempering. The stabilising tempering of the barrel stock includes a convective heating of the barrel stock, even in length and section at the permanent temperature in the range of (540-560)°C during at least 4 hours, subsequent cooling with the furnace down to the temperature of not more than 350°C, and further cooling in air. Variation of the stabilising tempering temperature along entire height of the working space of the electric blast furnace makes ±2°C. After tempering, the second preliminary mechanical treatment is carried out, when consequences of deformation from the stabilising tempering are removed, and concentric faces are arranged at the ends of the stock for further basement of the barrel stock on a lathe for deep drilling. The barrel channel is treated with simultaneous rotation of a barrel stock with a speed of at least 320 rpm, opposite rotation of a tool with a speed of at least 100 rpm and axial feed of a tool of at least 50 mm/min. The method is completed with a finishing mechanical treatment of the external surface of the barrel stock.
EFFECT: production of a barrel channel, which is most concentric to external surface with thickness variation of not more than 0,2 mm.
