FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to reclaiming or hardening worn-out surfaces of rails without removing the track from its bed. Proposed method comprises grinding metal surface, heating the damaged section by gas torch to below the rail metal fusion point, applying self-fluxing powder alloy with thermal expansion factor lower than that of steel onto rail working surface and melting the coat applied. Said powder alloy is applied in, at least, two layers to recover rated sizes of damaged section. Note here that first layer is applied on moving gas burner along and across horizontal plane at invariable distance between gas torch edge and rail surface. Second and subsequent layers are applied with torch oscillating over the entire width of rail head and overlapping previously applied layer sections. Then, natural cooling and mechanical processing of recovered surface are performed.
EFFECT: higher quality of reclaimed surfaces.
