SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of restoring worn-out rolling surfaces of rails of curvilinear sections of a tramway. In method, after stripping damaged surface of head (2) of rail (1), tram rail (1) is preheated in zone, width of which exceeds the width of the surfacing zone by 1,000 mm in both sides, before applying each roller (6–13) to ensure a certain cooling rate of the base metal of the rail in the layers, adjacent in the fusion zone of the deposited layer with the base metal, at that, after the deposition of each bead (6–13), the welding slag is removed and cleaned, note here that, after last bead surfacing, rail head surface is ground to match machined build-up surface with transverse profile of non-built-up rail part.

EFFECT: longer service life of recovered rail with preservation of strength characteristics of rail surface on curvilinear sections of tramway after recovery.
