FIELD: rails.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in repair of continuous welded track, which has defects due to wear and crushing rail heads in weld joint zone. Method involves preparation of rail head surface for electric arc surfacing, after cleaning of worn or defective surface to clean metal is performed heating of damaged area to temperature of 400–450 °C along its entire length and in both sides of section by value of process allowances, which is about 100 mm. Automatic welding of rails with application of self-shielded powdered welding wire with diameter of 1.6 mm corresponding to steel grades of rails of type P65 is performed at direct current of reverse polarity. Defects are grinded at the length not exceeding 390 mm, with depth of 7 mm. After surfacing, average yield of reduced rail is performed.
EFFECT: method provides higher efficiency by preserving geometric parameters, structure and mechanical properties of rail steel in zone of electric contact weld joint.
