FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing isoolefin polymers, particularly butyl rubber. The rubber is obtained through polymerisation of at least one isoolefin monomer with 4-7 carbon atoms, at least one multi-olefin monomer with 4-14 carbon atoms and, if needed, other copolymerisable monomers selected from a group comprising α-methylstyrene, p-methlstyrene, chlorostyrene, cyclopentadiene and methylcyclopentadiene in the presence of a catalyst - zinc compound of formula ZnR1R2, where R1 and R2 are identical or different and denote, if necessary, substituted aryl groups.
EFFECT: obtaining isoolefin polymers with sufficiently high molecular weight for use in rubber.
