FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of a fibre-forming polymer or copolymer of acrylonitrile and a fibre-forming polymer or copolymer of acrylonitrol obtained using said method. The method involves radiation polymerisation of acrylonitrile or copolymerisation of acrylonitrile with comonomers selected from ether groups based on acrylic or methacrylic acid, unsaturated carboxylic acids, with content of comonomers in the copolymer not more than 20%. Polymerisation is carried out in an aqueous dispersion medium which contains a cation-active or anion-active emulsifying agent with ratio of the monomer to the aqueous phase in the emulsion equal ranging from 5:95 to 20:80, at temperature 5-60°C, exposure rate 0.02-0.2 Gy/s until achieving monomer conversion degree of 80-95% to obtain latex with particle diameter 80-110 nm or aggregatively stable dispersion.
EFFECT: method of producing fibre-forming high-molecular polyacrylonitrile which is a carbon fibre precusor, with a simple method of regulating molecular weight of polyacrylonitrile to 1,5-106, with retention of high rate of polymerisation (for several hours), with degree of monomer conversion not less than 90%.
