FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the polymer industry and can be used in the paper, paint and varnish, carpet industry, for example, in the production of tufted, non-woven and woven carpets, as well as in the construction of soil and road surfaces. Carboxylated latex, consisting of 20–40 pts. wt. of a conjugated diene, 50–70 pts. wt. vinyl aromatic series monomer, 2–5 pts. wt. of a carboxylating agent and 3–5 pts. wt. polar comonomer of the vinyl series, is prepared in the presence of water, a mixture of emulsifiers, a molecular weight regulator and an oxidation-reduction initiating system. Pre-emulsion is prepared in a separate tank. Initiator, water are added to the polymerization reactor, 1/10 part of the pre-emulsion is added. Heat the resulting mixture to 45 °C and add 10–20 % of the total amount of the reducing agent. Continuously or portionwise simultaneously with the supply of the reducing agent, the remainder of the pre-emulsion is fed. Vinyl comonomer polar comonomer and the remaining 5–10 % reductant are loaded into the polymerization reactor after reaching 80–90 % of the monomer conversion.

EFFECT: provided increase in the polymer's resistance to the action of thermo-oxidative processes, the adhesive properties of latexes, the foaming ability, and the simplification of the formulation for the production of latex by eliminating the antioxidant from the formulation.
