FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic high-molecular compounds, specifically to a method of producing a copolymer of acrylonitrile, which can be used as a precursor for producing polyacrylonitrile high-strength fibers. Method of producing the acrylonitrile copolymer involves controlled radical polymerization of acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate and dimethylitaconate in a dimethyl sulphoxide solution in an argon atmosphere using an initiator and a catalyst system. Polymerization is carried out at temperature of 60–70 °C for 40–50 hours. Initiator used is tetrachloromethane. Catalyst system includes copper (I) bromide as a catalyst, tris (2-pyridylmethyl) amine as a first ligand, tris [2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine as a second ligand and glucose as an activating agent. Components of the monomer mixture are taken in the following ratio, mol%: 96–97 acrylonitrile, 1.5–2 methyl acrylate, 1–2 dimethylaconate. Molar ratio between carbon tetrachloride, copper (I) bromide, tris (2-pyridylmethyl) amine, tris [2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine, glucose and monomer mixture is 1:0.2–0.6:0.5–4.8:0.5–4.8:2–10:1,350–4,000.
EFFECT: invention reduces duration of the process while maintaining control over the molecular weight, and obtain copolymers with molecular weight of more than 60 kDa and narrow molecular weight distribution of up to 1½.
