FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves contacting a triglyceride-containing portion of an oil plant with liquid alkyl fatty acid ester such that triglyceride dissolves in the alkyl fatty acid ester to form a triglyceride solution. Contact between the alkyl fatty acid ester and the triglyceride-containing portion of the plant oil takes place at temperature 15-180°C and ratio from 1:2 to 10:1.
EFFECT: use of the alkyl fatty acid ester as solvent enables to easily extract triglyceride from the oil plant.
