FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electronic automatic control systems (ACS) of gas turbine engines (GTE) with free turbine, which are used as parts of gas turbine units (GTU) for drive of electric generators (EG) of gas turbine electric power stations (GTEPS). In addition, actuation of electric generator (EG) is set to the load; at the following loss of load the rotation frequency of turbo-compressor and air temperature at GTU inlet is measured, specific rotation frequency of turbo-compressor is calculated, its value is compared to pre-set value determined by calculation-experimental method for each type of GTU; when specific rotation frequency of turbo-compressor achieves the pre-set value, reduction of fuel flow to KC of GTU is restricted, which is performed by rotation frequency control of power turbine; when specific rotation frequency of turbo-compressor reaches the pre-set value, fuel flow reduction is stopped and this fuel flow is kept unchanged till GTU stops after the specified cooling time of GTU ends.

EFFECT: higher operating reliability of GTEPS owing to improving quality of operation of GTU ACS.
