FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method and device for measuring sleepiness, in particular, in vehicle drivers. Method includes the following stages: a) movement of subject's eyelids is continuously controlled; b) amplitude of eyelid movement is measured, c) maximal rate of closing and unclosing of eyelids each separately is measured, d) separate values of ratio of amplitude to rate for closing and unclosing of eyelids, respectively, are obtained, e) separately, average values of ratio of amplitude to rate for closing and unclosing, respectively, are calculated for preliminarily specified time periods, f) separate average values for each interval are registered, average values are estimated in different ways and summed up in order to obtain quantitative index of sleepiness, which is compared with sleepiness scale, based on data, collected from subjects in states of vigilance and sleepiness. System is made with possibility of said method realisation.

EFFECT: application of claimed group of inventions will make it possible to improve control over vigilance.
