FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making a membrane electrolysis cell comprising an anodic compartment and a cathodic compartment, wherein at least one of these two compartments contains a gas-diffusion electrode, and a flat porous element traversed by a stream of electrolyte is placed between the membrane and the gas-diffusion electrode. In such a cell, current is transmitted to the gas-diffusion electrode through a current distributor fitted with elastic conductive protrusions pushing the electrode against the porous element. The current distributor is made from a metal sheet in form of a single component with multiple elastic conductive protrusions suitable for pressing the gas-diffusion electrode against the porous element.

EFFECT: improved system for transmitting electrical current for high-current density electrolytic cell and efficient gas circulation when operating the cell in virtually any process conditions.
