FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway equipment, namely, to railroad ACS and telemetry hardware and be used for traffic control. Proposed method consists in that AC signal is fed to feed end of first track to receive said signal at receiving end of first track via track relay. AC signal is fed to feed end of second track line to determine input resistance of first and second tracks by their voltages and currents. Input resistance of first unoccupied track is used to determine insulance to be allowed for in determining the length of free track from input resistance of second track. Proposed device comprises track 9, switch unit 5, relay 14, relay contacts 19, matching transformers 6-8, and PROM 15. Besides, it comprises second track 10, limiting resistor 2, generator 1, cable lines 11-13, second transducer 3 and second PROM 18.
EFFECT: higher reliability of control.
