FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in placement of item connected to negative pole of current source into bath under layer of hydrogen containing liquid. Also, an end of anode of carbon containing material is immersed into liquid at a gap relative to treated surface. Further, there is formed a plasma channel in the said gap with generation of hydrogen plasma in local volume in the section of contact of item surface and the plasma channel. It causes formation of titanium carbide on surface of an item at thermo-chemical interaction of hydrogen atoms from material of anode eroded under effect of ionisation in plasma with atoms of titanium from item material.
EFFECT: raised adhesion and uniformity of coating; application of coating on large surface of item.
