FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making of titanium carbide wear resistant coating on surface of articles from titanium or alloys thereof and can be used to form coatings on parts and tools operated under conditions of intensive wear, aggressive media and high temperatures. Method of micro-structured titanium carbide coating producing on surface of article from titanium or titanium alloy using laser radiation involves placing of aid article into reaction medium, presented by saturated hydrocarbon, and said article surface processing with femtosecond laser radiation in near infrared spectrum with pulse power density of 1017 W/m2 and ten percent overlapping of laser exposure regions.

EFFECT: enabling higher degree of obtained result reproducibility with minimum processing section preparation, high accuracy of processing using high locality of exposure and short duration of laser radiation pulse, wherein eliminating deep thermal effect on machined part main material.
