FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal processing and can be used for fabrication of cutting tools, primarily, blades for manual use. Proposed cutting tool comprises tool base of titanium or its alloy with wearproof coating composed of composite ply of titanium carbide in titanium matrix. Said ply is applied with the help of arc discharge at cathode polarisation of tool base with the help of graphite cathode in diluted aqueous solution of NaCl.
EFFECT: higher antirust properties, decreased weight.
