SUBSTANCE: user equipment (UE) can have a set of candidates from non-service cells which are candidates for handover. The UE can support synchronisation of an uplink channel with one or more non-service cells in the set of candidates without the need to support a communication line with any of the non-service cells. The UE can update synchronisation of the uplink channel with non-service cells. The UE can perform handover from a service cell to a target cell without uplink channel synchronisation during handover.
