FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry, particularly, to production of carbon monoxide. Activated granular coal is mixed with water solution containing nickel and/or cobalt salt with concentration of 0.2-0.5 mol/l, or with organic solvent containing complex nickel and/or cobalt compound with concentration of 0.07-0.1 mol/l, to produce three-component coal suspension. Obtained suspension is subjected to two-stage heat treatment at no higher than 400°C to produce dry metal-containing carbon material. Obtained dry powder is heated to 500 - 800°C and cured at said temperature in the presence of carbon dioxide at its flow rate of 6-68 l/h to terminate coal gasification.

EFFECT: carbon monoxide of purity approximating to 99%, lower costs and higher efficiency.
