FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development of a method for catalyst production based on highly dispersed titanium dioxide coated with noble metal nanoparticles, exhibiting activity under ultraviolet radiation in the reaction of carbon monoxide photocatalytic oxidation at room temperature. Photocatalyst is intended mainly for photocatalytic purification of air from carbon monoxide pollution and of carbon monoxide formed as a by-product in photocatalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds. A method of preparing a metal-applied catalyst for the photocatalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide containing titanium dioxide and noble metal is described. The catalyst is prepared by impregnation of titanium dioxide, which is 100% anatazom or a mixture of anatase with rutile with the contents of anatase not less than 50 wt %, a metalloorganic predecessor of noble metal containing no atoms, phosphorus, sulfur, and chlorine, which is dissolved in an organic solvent, followed by the removal of the solvent and sludge by igniting at a temperature above the temperature of decomposition of metallorganic predecessor, but not more than 250°C.
EFFECT: high rate of oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide at room temperature.
