FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determination in real time mode of volatile organic compounds (VOC), such as benzene, toluene, xylene, naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene, etc., which are contained in ambient air. Method for analysing the volatile organic compounds, which are contained in gaseous medium, by using matrix of fluorescent chemosensor elements sensitive to components of volatile organic compounds, consists in the fact that first, analysed medium is brought into contact with elements of matrix. Then, excitation of fluorescence of each element is performed by means of the appropriate light source. Then, intensity of fluorescence of each of matrix element, which depends in concentration of certain component, is measured. At that, excitation of fluorescence and measurement of fluorescence intensity of chemosensor elements is performed in turn. At that fluorescence excitation is performed by means of light emitting diodes by actuating each of them for the time period of 1 to 100 milliseconds.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination of VOC concentration owing to eliminating the influence of crosstalk noise caused by fluorescence of neighbouring or close located chemosensor elements on recording system.
