FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device for controlling drive belt tension has a mechanism for measuring belt tension, a mechanism for indicating belt tension, an analogue-to-digital converter, a comparator unit and a display unit. The mechanism for measuring belt tension is in form of two optical sensors, one of which faces the drive pulley by the working element, while the other faces the belt. The sensors pick up the signal from the point of contact between the pulley and the drive belt.
EFFECT: non-contact measurement of drive belt tension during operation of the belt drive, using a belt of any form.
