FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: gamma-ray flaw detector has a radiation head with a housing and a protection unit with a channel for accommodating a discrete-mobile flat-topped cross arm-closed multi-jointed stepped source holder with radiator and integrated into a corresponding cavity in a protection unit partly formed by the cavity of the channel, flat wedge-shaped beam chopper fitted with a slide guide on the elevation angle of the wedge and adapted for discrete displacement during interaction with the capsule of the radiation source or source holder in a plane which passes through the axis of the channel, plane-parallel to its axis, which coincides with the corner of the generatrix of the beam chopper, and in the plane in which the beam chopper lies, the protection unit is provided with the mating part of the slide guide the flat wedge-shaped beam chopper, wherein the contact generatrix surface of the beam chopper corresponds to the channel, a gravity cable with a connection hose and a drive, a guide tube for moving the movable source holder, where the circular part of the wedge-shaped beam chopper facing the radiator capsule is shaped on the length of the radiator capsule coaxial with the channel through a dead-ended dome-shaped tunnel which is adapted to accommodate the radiation capsule in the storage position as a primary movable protection-compensating barrier which localises direct penetrating radiation flux in the zone of concentration of structural gaps.
