SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of material research without destruction. The gamma flaw detector contains a radiation head including a protection unit with an axial channel for placing a movable multi-link holder connected to the radiator and integrated with the possibility of plane-parallel movements relative to the axis of the axial channel into the corresponding cavity of the wedge-shaped obturator protection unit, structurally coupled with a U-shaped spring-polarized and discretely movable traverse, the means of cyclic polarized fixation of the traverse is made with the possibility of its release in the initial state at the operator’s command, accompanied by commensurate compensation for excessive efforts of polarization of the traverse by pressing the button of the mechanism of cyclic fixation of the traverse, kinematically coupled with the mechanism of polarization of the traverse, by means of an adjustable spring buffer and the pedal of an L-shaped lever fastened to the polarization mechanism.

EFFECT: increase in reliability and safety, elimination of the probability of an emergency failure of the device during the working cycle.
