FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in production of rough rail breakdown in breakdown stand and rough reverse stand and its further rolling. Reduced number of passed stands (idle passes), compactness of mill equipment arrangement and raised temperature at the end of rolling are facilitated due to the following: tandem breakdown bar enters a finishing continuous-reverse group of stands from back side opposite to run of rolling; rolling is carried out in two passes, also, in the first pass there is used a system of templates: a universal four-roll template - an auxiliary two-roll template - universal four-roll template; in the second pass the following system of templates: universal four-roll template - auxiliary two-roll template - universal four-roll template - universal three-roll template.
EFFECT: raised efficiency of continuous-reverse rolling mills, improved quality of railroad rails.
