FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: cutting plate features prismatic shape, top and bottom parallel surfaces coupled by four perpendicular side surfaces. Two opposite surfaces of the latter have ledge and recesses to form, together with top and bottom surfaces, cutting edges while two remaining surface are smooth and arranged in parallel. Note here that one apex of cutting edge is formed by two adjoining side surfaces to make cutting edge. To increased cutting efficiency, apices of cutting edges confine in fact semi-cylindrical section on side surfaces. Proposed method consists in feeding at least one cutting plate for radial cutting-in and displacing it radially along billet. Besides, cutting plate is first fed radially for transverse turning of intermediate support and then it is displaced radial for support base finishing.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of machining.
