SUBSTANCE: method of detecting and defining characteristics of medium contained in structure with first wall adjoining said medium comprises the following steps: broadband acoustic signal is emitted in direction of said first wall by acoustic transducer. Note here that said transducer radiation comprises at least one frequency corresponding to resonance frequency of said first wall. Second transducer is used to generate echo-signal from acoustic radiation reflected from said first wall. Said echo-signal is used to derive echo-signal spectrum made up of acoustic spectral components of reflected signal to detect said medium or define it characteristics by using echo-signal processing algorithm.
EFFECT: detection of hydrate or condensate block in pipeline.
