FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves pulsed radiation in the ultraviolet wavelength range and then receiving and processing the reflected signal. A short radiation pulse is generated based on a short strobe on the radiator, and separate reflected photons are picked up based on a long strobe. The arrival angle of a reflected photon, distance to the object and its coordinates are determined using a time-coordinate-sensitive detector. The optical location device has a wide-angle ultraviolet radiation radiator and a radiation receiver. The ultraviolet radiation receiver used is a time-coordinate-sensitive detector fitted with a controller and connected to a lens. The detector picks up separate reflected photons, determines the arrival angle of the reflected photon, determines the distance to the object and its coordinates.

EFFECT: obtaining necessary information regardless of presence of natural or artificial noise.
