FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method is based using a monophotonic UV radiation detector to detect corona discharge arising during leakage of current from components of high-voltage alternating current installations, e.g. high-voltage power lines. Radiation from the object under analysis passes through an optical system which ensures passage of UV radiation in a given solar-blind range and attenuation of radiation at different wavelength. Separate photons are detected and counted and their passage time and coordinates are determined. Based on the obtained data, the position of the radiation source is determined and time versus amplitude curve is plotted. The fundamental frequency of alternating current is determined. A spectrogram is calculated and presence of partial discharges and their recurrence rate is determined based on analysis of the spectrogram. Correlation between photon counting rate and instantaneous phase of the alternating current is established, thereby obtaining information on instantaneous power of UV radiation at the selected frequency. A phase integral characteristic and an amplitude-phase distribution characteristic are plotted based on said information. Relative intensity of radiation of partial discharges in different phases is determined by analysing these characteristics.
EFFECT: reliable and simple monitoring.
