FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive elements and can be used in cutting tools for drilling holes in underground rocks. Proposed abrasive element incorporates a layer of polycrystalline diamond bound with base on boundary surface, work surface on side directed from said boundary surface and lateral surface arranged between work surface and boundary surface. Note here that abrasive element has a region enriched in catalytic material facilitating sintering during formation of polycrystalline diamond and annular region depleted of catalytic material, arranged along lateral surface of abrasive element and adjoining its work surface.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance of abrasive element.
