FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: coating is applied on surface of item of metal and/or ceramic material, and/or plastic material or of material containing elements of at least one of these materials. Gas-powder mixture is produced from a gas flow and powder of substance of 99 % purity or higher and contents of oxygen less, than 1000 ppm chosen from a group of refractory metals consisting of niobium, tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, zirconium or mixtures of at least two of them or mixtures one of the said refractory material with metal chosen from a group consisting of cobalt, nickel, rhodium, palladium, platinum, copper, silver, and gold or alloy tungsten-rhenium, or pseudo-alloy of one of the said refractory metal with metals chosen from a group consisting of cobalt, nickel, rhodium, palladium, platinum, copper, silver and gold. Powder has dimension of particles from 0.5 to 150 mcm. Gas flow is imparted with supersonic rate and a reactive jet with supersonic speed is directed on surface of the item.
EFFECT: coating of item tight and resistant to corrosion.
