FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed capacitor-grade wire produced in powder metallurgy process incorporates at least niobium and silicon, niobium being metal present in niobium wire in greatest mass percentage. It is tensile strength controlled wire having finishing treatment diameter whose strength exceeds that of capacitor-grade wire produced in casting metallurgy process. Wire produced in powder metallurgy exceeds in hardness capacitor-grade wire produced in casting metallurgy and is characterized in charge leakage meeting requirements to capacitor-grade conducting wires made of tantalum, niobium, or niobium-zirconium alloy at sintering temperature about 1150 °C and higher still.
EFFECT: enhanced tensile strength and hardness of wire.
