FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining and analysing analyte ions involves exposing a target to laser radiation. Analyte molecules are then ionised. Further, analyte ions are extracted and transported to a drift spectrometre. In order to ionise analyte molecules, a gas stream with analyte molecules desorbed from the target is directed coaxially and opposite the laser radiation flux irradiating the target. A stream of buffer gas is fed from the laser radiation input side, said buffer gas creating a gas seal for the stream of ionised gas at the inlet of the ion extraction and transportation system, where it is output for further circulation.
EFFECT: high efficiency of detecting vapour and traces of substances on production targets in real time.
