FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses removal of iron sulphide impurities formed during synthesis of polysulphide polymer from raw material containing impurities of iron compounds, via polycondensation of di- and polyhalides with sodium polysulphide in the presence of a dispersant, followed by washing and splitting the high molecular weight dispersion, coagulation of the split dispersion with an acidic reagent by clarifying the coagulum with aqueous solution of a chelating agent taken in amount of 1.0-2.0% of the weight of the dry polymer, at temperature 80-85°C, and then washing the polymer with water and drying in a vacuum. The chelating agent used is either trilon B or oxalic acid or ammonium oxalate.
EFFECT: high transparency of polymers, longer shelf life and high reproducibility of physical and mechanical properties.
