FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine (ICE) with split cycle includes crankshaft (52), compression (66) and expansion (68) cylinders, compression (72) and expansion (74) pistons, and bypass channel (38). Compression piston (72) performs inlet and compression strokes per one turn of crankshaft (52). Expansion piston (74) performs expansion and outlet strokes per one turn of crankshaft (52). Bypass channel (38) connects compression (66) and expansion (68) cylinders. Bypass channel (38) includes bypass compression valves (BCV (84)) and bypass expansion valves (BEV (86)). High pressure cavity is made between bypass valves (84, 86). BCV (84) opens when pressure in compression cylinder (66) is lower than pressure in initial part of bypass valve (78) near bypass compression valve (84). Also, the invention describes operating method of ICE with split cycle, in which BCV opens when pressure in compression cylinder is lower than pressure in initial part of bypass valve, near bypass compression valve.

EFFECT: increasing the opening time of valves and reducing the power consumed on delivery in engines with split cycle.
