FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: multidimensional thin-layer chromatography (TLC) method involves placing the analysed sample at the corner of a plate and separating it into a group of compounds with one liquid mobile phase via linear TLC to obtain a chromatogram. Zones of groups of poorly separated compounds are then marked on the plate. After drying, the plate is cut perpendicular to the direction of movement of the mobile phase into rectangular plates containing said zones. Subsequent separations are then carried out on the cut plates simultaneously and independently using, for each separation, different mobile phases which move in a direction at an angle 90° to the direction of movement of the mobile phase during the first separation.
EFFECT: high selectivity and short duration of analysis.
