FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: sandwich chamber with a counter-plate for thin-layer chromatography has a separating chromatographic plate with an adsorption layer on a substrate and a counter-plate - chromatographic plate with an adsorption layer on a substrate. Both plates lie in parallel, their adsorption layers facing each other. The structure is fixed using clamps which clamp the plates. The distance between the adsorption layers of the separating plate and the counter-plate is less than 0.3 mm, and the separating plate is shifted by 3-10 mm from the counter-plate. Distance between the adsorption layers is adjusted using a flat-topped stopper. Linear parts of the stopper can be made from quartz capillaries with diameter of 0.1-0.3 mm. The separating plate and/or the counter-plate used are plates not only on a glass but a flexible aluminium or polymer substrate, placed on additional glass plates, the dimensions of which, on one or four sides, exceed the dimensions of the used chromatographic plates by 10-40 mm. At least one of the additional plates has on one of its sides protrusions to limit contact between the mobile phase and the separating plate. The chromatographic counter-plate and the additional plate can have through-cuts for monitoring movement of the mobile phase on the separating plate and separating the analysed mixture. The through-cuts are linear cuts whose width is not more than 3 mm or circular cuts with diameter of not more than 5 mm.
