SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and specifically to methods of separating chemical compounds through thin-layer chromatography and can be used to analyse mixtures of substances in different areas of chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, environmental monitoring, food industry etc. The disclosed method of separating and detecting chemical compounds via thin-layer chromatography includes placing a sample onto a chromatographic plate. The plate is then developed with a liquid mobile phase. Separate zones are recorded via video-densimetry of the chromatogram while exposing the chromatogram on the plate to day or ultraviolet light. Further, the separate zones undergo computer processing, where separate zones are recorded several times at any moment of separation and directly during chromatographic separation of the analysed sample, except the step for complete washing of the chromatographic plate with the mobile phase and drying it.

EFFECT: rapid thin-layer chromatography, as well as wide field of use, where measurement of parametres of chromatographic zones and processing of thin-layer chromatograms is done instantly and repeatedly during separation of the analysed mixture.
