FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of separating an analysed mixture by thin-layer chromatography involves depositing the analysed mixture on a separating chromatographic plate and subsequent separation of components of the analysed mixture by a mobile phase in a sandwich chamber, which includes a separating chromatographic plate and a dry counter-plate not in contact with the mobile phase. The counter-plate used is a chromatographic plate whose sorption layer is characterised by a higher sorption capacity compared to the separating plate. This is achieved using one of two methods: the counter-plate used is a chromatographic plate containing a sorbent identical to the sorbent of the separating plate, and is characterised by a thicker sorption layer or the counter-plate used is a chromatographic plate containing a sorbent different from the sorbent of the separating plate, and is characterised by higher specific sorption capacity.
EFFECT: high values of mobility, efficiency of separation and other chromatographic properties.
