METHOD FOR EVALUATING EFFECTIVE IRON TRANSPORT IN PATIENT WITH RENAL INSUFFICIENCY Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC G01N33/49 G01N33/50 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: patient's blood serum is analysed for the concentration of transferrin and iron metabolism values. The effective transport iron concentration (ETC) is calculated by formula: ETC = (C_Tr·C_I)/( C_I+UIBC), g/l, where C_Tr is the transferrin concentration, g/l; C_I is the serum iron concentration, mcmol/l; UIBC is the unsaturated iron-binding capacity, mcmol/l. If the ETC value is within 0.7 g/l and higher, it is considered as adequate, while the value less than 0.70 shows the deficient iron transport.

EFFECT: use of the declared method allows providing higher reliability of evaluating the effective iron transport in the patient with acute or chronic renal insufficiency.
