METHOD OF DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTICS OF IRON DEFICIENCY IN PATIENTS WITH OVARIAN CANCER Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC G01N33/90 

FIELD: medicine, clinical laboratory diagnostics, oncology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the differential diagnosis of iron deficiency in patients with ovarian cancer. When the iron transferrin saturation ratio (IT) is less than or equal to 20% in combination with the ferritin concentration, the serum transferrin concentration is additionally measured, and when the ferritin concentration is less than 70 μg/l, the transferrin concentration is more than 2.1 g/l, an absolute iron deficiency is diagnosed. At the ferritin concentration greater than 70 μg/l and a transferrin concentration less than or equal to 2.1 g/l, functional iron deficiency (FID) is diagnosed. If the ferritin concentration exceeds 70 µg/l and the serum transferrin concentration exceeds 2.1 g/l, the probability of FID is calculated using the logistic regression formula, taking into account the concentrations of transferrin and ferritin.

EFFECT: method allows to increase the effectiveness of the treatment of absolute and functional iron deficiency by conducting an objective differential diagnosis by assessing the totality of the most significant indicators.
